Scenic Rim tourism comes of age!
Local tourism operators were honoured at the inaugural Scenic Rim Regional Tourism Awards on Thursday June 12 2008 with seven businesses taking home awards.
Guests and nominees were treated to a formal dinner at The Centre in Beaudesert where EC3 Global general manager Mark Olsen was master of ceremonies.
Tamborine Mountain Distillery won the award for best tourist attraction.
“We never dreamt for one minute that we would win this award” said an elated Michael Ward when interviewed after winning. “It is very gratifying being the first in the new Scenic Rim Regional Council which replaces the old Beaudesert Shire Council. This puts us in a good position for entering the Queensland Tourism Awards. Being such a small business this award is beneficial and leads to the possibility of media attention which can only be advantageous to tourism in the Scenic Rim”.
