CELEBRATING AUSTRALIAN FLAVOUR ON THE GOLD COAST

Yellow™ and White Pages® directories honour Australia’s
food and beverage industry heroes

Australia is certainly spoilt for choice when it comes to food and drink. This year, Sensis is recognising local food and beverage heroes across the country on the covers of the 2008/09 Yellow™ and White Pages® directories, with North Tamborine residents Michael and Alla Ward featuring on the cover of this year’s Gold Coast directory.

Michael and Alla exemplify this year’s cover theme ‘Celebrating Australian Flavour’ and were humbled to learn of their selection to feature on the front cover, having been nominated by members of the local Gold Coast community.

Michael and Alla’s Tamborine Mountain Distillery is world renowned for its award winning high quality liqueurs, vodkas, schnapps and eaux-de-vie made from natural Australian flavours.

The Wards source locally grown fruit from Tamborine Mountain and from other growers in the region to produce their products.

Tamborine Mountain Distillery has also made a notable impression on the global industry, having won over 60 international awards including a gold medal for the first Australian-produced absinthe at the 2007 World Spirits Competition in Austria.

Michael and Alla work hard to promote the region’s natural tastes to international markets, with more than 120,000 people from around the world visiting the distillery every year.

Group Manager, White Pages®, Melissa Reynolds believes the ‘Celebrating Australian Flavour’ theme provides Sensis with an opportunity to recognise Australians who are making outstanding achievements in their local food and beverage industry.

“Australia is now so well known for its home-grown food and drink that people often associate certain produce or culinary personalities with a region of Australia. Michael and Alla are great examples of people who champions local produce and celebrate their region’s local flavour for the benefit of their community,” Ms Reynolds said.

Michael and Alla replace Natasha Edwards and Kylie Mitchell on the cover of the Gold Coast directory, who was featured last year as part of the ‘Champions of the Community’ cover theme on the Yellow™ and White Pages® directory.

With the Yellow™ and White Pages® directories commencing distribution within the Gold Coast directory region on Saturday 7 June, the ‘Celebrating Australian Flavour’ theme is an important part of Sensis’ commitment to be involved with the local communities in which it operates.
