Distillery at the
2008 International Review of Spirits Competition
(Beverage
Testing Institute of Chicago) - October/November
Participating in the 2008 International
Review of Spirits competition at the Beverage Testing
Institute of Chicago U.S.A., Tamborine Mountain Distillery
has come away with another 4 awards.
Achieving
awards were:
Tamborine Mountain Wild Citrus Vodka
Clear. Vibrant aromas of tangerine and pineapple sherbet follow through on a round, supple entry to glycerous, dry-yet-fruity medium body with citrus gelatin, rice candy, pink peppercorn, baby oil, and gravel dust notes on the lightly tannic, hot peppery fade.
International Review of Spirits Award: Bronze Medal
Clear. Interesting, faint aromas of pistachio salt water taffy, strawberry ice cream, and caramel pear follow through on a delicate silky entry to an off-dry light-to-medium body with anise-clove frosting, papaya jam, and paper tape notes. Finishes with a balsa and cream Anglaise tinged fade with wet stones and sweet and peppery spice in support. A curiously concocted crafty vodka for tropical fruit drinks and punches. Fun.
International Review of Spirits Award: Silver Medal
Pale golden straw color. Fresh cut ginger, honey, and whipped cream aromas follow through on a supple entry to dryish, buoyant medium body with great purity and balance. Finishes with a lingering powdered sugar, glycerin soap, and hot peppery ginger fade. An invigorating, palate stimulating ginger flavor to add "pop" to cocktails both high and low.
Clear with a faint platinum straw cast. Creamy custard, sautéed red pepper, and pepper oil aromas follow through on a bold, silky entry to a dryish medium body with whipped cream and hot jalapeño pepper note. Finishes with a long, prickly hot pepper and candied lemon peel fade. Interesting.
International Review of Spirits Award: Silver Medal
RATED: 88 points (Highly Recommended)
The International Review of Spirits is the largest
and most prestigious annual spirits competition
in the United
States. Throughout the year, the tasting
experts at the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI)
will
invite select members
of the trade to join them as panelists in
blind tastings of specific categories of spirits.
Major and boutique
spirits producers and importers from around
the world and across
the country will participate in the competition
because they know that BTI conducts the most
objective, consistent
and widely regarded spirits reviews in America.
Millions of consumers look to BTI's spirits reviews on
Tastings.com, CNBC and elsewhere when making their spirits
buying decisions. Retailers and distributors across the
U.S. closely watch BTI's reviews when looking for products
to carry. Spirits producers and marketers obtain valuable
marketing tools by participating in BTI's reviews.
