Sharing Tamborine Mountain with the People Who Help Visitors Discover It
In 2024, Tamborine Mountain Distillery joined hotel concierges and tourism representatives on the Gold Coast for the Concierge Cuisine & Vineyard Expo, organised by Les Clefs d'Or Australia.
The event brought together more than 50 hotel representatives from over 20 hotels and brands, creating an opportunity for tourism operators to meet the people who spend every day helping visitors decide what to see, taste and experience during their stay.
For us, that meant one thing:
Introducing a little piece of Tamborine Mountain to the people introducing visitors to South East Queensland.
Nearly 60 Conversations in One Day
Our Brand Ambassador, BJ, represented Tamborine Mountain Distillery at the Expo.
And it was a busy day.
BJ took part in nearly 60 individual sessions, each lasting around seven minutes, speaking directly with hotel concierges about the Distillery and what their guests can experience when they make the trip into the Gold Coast Hinterland.
Seven minutes isn't long.
But it's enough time to introduce the story of Tamborine Mountain Distillery, share some of our spirits and explain why a visit to the Mountain can offer hotel guests something quite different from their time on the coast.
From the Gold Coast to Tamborine Mountain
One of the reasons events like this matter to us is the connection between the Gold Coast and Tamborine Mountain.
Visitors staying on the coast may be surprisingly close to rainforest walks, local food and drink producers, wineries, breweries and a working distillery — but they need to know those experiences are here.
Hotel concierges play an important role in making those connections.
At the Expo, BJ introduced attendees to some of the experiences available at Tamborine Mountain Distillery, including distillery visits, tastings and interactive classes.
The aim wasn't simply to introduce our bottles.
It was to introduce Tamborine Mountain as an experience.
A Custom Bottle for Les Clefs d'Or Australia
One of our favourite moments from the day was presenting a custom Tamborine Mountain Distillery bottle to Dean McWhinney, then National President of Les Clefs d'Or Australia.
It was our way of thanking the organisation and recognising the work concierges do connecting visitors with memorable experiences throughout Australia.
And, naturally, we thought that deserved a bottle.
Building Connections Beyond the Distillery
Days like this are an important reminder that tourism works through relationships.
A visitor asks a concierge what they should do tomorrow.
Someone mentions Tamborine Mountain.
A day trip becomes a tasting.
A tasting becomes a bottle taken home.
And sometimes that visitor returns years later.
We're grateful to Les Clefs d'Or Australia and everyone we met at the 2024 Concierge Cuisine & Vineyard Expo for giving us the opportunity to share our part of the Mountain's story.
