Tamborine Mountain Distillery Wins Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries for the Second Consecutive Year
Two years. Two Gold awards.
Tamborine Mountain Distillery was incredibly proud to take home Gold at the 2023 Queensland Tourism Awards, winning the Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries category for the second consecutive year.
Following our Gold win in 2022, the 2023 result marked another special moment for our team — and another opportunity to put Tamborine Mountain and the Scenic Rim in the tourism spotlight.
Gold in 2022. Gold Again in 2023.
The Queensland Tourism Awards recognise tourism businesses and experiences from across the state.
Tamborine Mountain Distillery competed in the Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries category, which recognises businesses offering a cellar door experience and contributing to Queensland tourism.
We were awarded Gold in 2022.
Then, in 2023, we did it again.
For General Manager Gordon Chalmers, the consecutive wins reflected both the work of the team and the support of the people who continued to visit us.

More Than an Award for What's in the Bottle
What makes the Queensland Tourism Awards particularly meaningful to us is that they're not simply judging a spirit.
They're recognising a tourism experience.
Visitors don't just come to Tamborine Mountain Distillery to choose a bottle.
They come to taste.
To discover spirits and liqueurs they may never have encountered before.
To hear the stories behind the Distillery.
And to make our little corner of Tamborine Mountain part of their day exploring the Scenic Rim.
The award recognises that bigger picture — the experience surrounding what we make.
A Gold for Tamborine Mountain, Too
We might have brought the trophy home to the Distillery, but visitors rarely come up the Mountain for just one thing.
They come for the rainforest.
The waterfalls and lookouts.
The food, wine and spirits.
The shops, galleries and local producers.
And the particular character of a mountain community sitting just behind the Gold Coast.
That's why recognition at a state level feels bigger than our own front door.
Every visitor encouraged to discover Tamborine Mountain has the opportunity to discover the many other businesses and experiences around us as well.
From Queensland Gold to the Australian Tourism Awards
Winning Gold at the state level also meant Tamborine Mountain Distillery progressed to represent Queensland at the Australian Tourism Awards.
For Gordon and the team, that created an opportunity to take the TMD story from Tamborine Mountain to the national stage.
As Gordon said at the time:
“We're thrilled to represent our community on a national stage. This recognition celebrates what makes our region special and allows us to share its essence with all of Australia.”
At the Australian Tourism Awards, Tamborine Mountain Distillery went on to represent Queensland as a national finalist in Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries.
