Bringing a Taste of Queensland to Shanghai!
Tamborine Mountain Distillery taking Wattle Toffee Liqueur to the World
The iconic Tamborine Mountain Distillery was recently chosen as one of twenty eight Queensland businesses to participate in the China International Expo in Shanghai from 5th to 10th November. The Expo heralded the first major visitation by the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, and the Prime Minster Anthony Albanese, to China, following the recent thawing of relationships between the two Countries. The Distillery team, led by Nerissa Jiang, the International Sales Manager, had a fantastic response, promoting the Distillery, Tamborine Mountain and the Scenic Rim on the spectacular Taste of Queensland Food and Beverage stand.
With over 460,000 Chinese visitors expected in Queensland over the next 12 months, this show was perfect timing for the Tamborine Mountain Distillery to continue their tourism offering and their export led growth, both of which were disrupted over the last three years since Covid. Gordon Chalmers, the Distillery General Manager stated how proud all the staff were to see their iconic Wattle Toffee Liqueur being used on the dessert menu of the ‘Sister State Dinner’. This event was attended by some of the highest-ranking politicians and business entrepreneurs from both Countries. Gordon also stated “that it was fantastic to see tens of thousands of visitors passing by our stand and stop to taste our award winning Spirits and Liqueurs.” The spectacular Queensland Stand, with the large photos of the iconic distillery building and the beautiful images of Curtis Falls was such a great tourism promotion for Tamborine Mountain.
Gordon quipped “I am off to the UK for the next two weeks for a major Drinks Trade Show and business meetings, but it is going to be very had to do better than the spectacular results that Nerissa has achieved in Shanghai”. The icing on the cake was the Queensland Government choosing three hundred bottles of our all time favourite Wattle Toffee Liqueur, to give as gifts for each attendee at the Queensland-Shanghai Sister State Banquet.
