The Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail brings together local producers, growers, makers and artisans for a day of discovery across one of Queensland's most celebrated food and farming regions.
As part of the 2026 Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail, Tamborine Mountain Distillery opened its doors for a special experience of our own: Spirits & Stories with the Head Distiller.
It was an opportunity to step behind the scenes, discover how our spirits and liqueurs are created and hear some of the stories that have shaped Tamborine Mountain Distillery.
Discovering the Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail
The Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail celebrates the people and produce of Queensland's Scenic Rim, encouraging visitors to travel through the region and meet producers at the source.
From farms and fresh produce to artisan food, wine and handcrafted spirits, the trail offers an opportunity to discover what's being grown, made and created across the region.
For Tamborine Mountain Distillery, it was a natural opportunity to share another side of local production: the craft of distilling.
Spirits & Stories at Tamborine Mountain Distillery
For our special Farm Gate Trail experience, visitors joined our Head Distiller for a relaxed journey behind the scenes of Tamborine Mountain Distillery.
Rather than simply tasting the finished product, Spirits & Stories explored what happens before a spirit ever reaches the glass.
Guests discovered the distillery, heard stories behind our spirits and liqueurs and learned more about the different ingredients and techniques used to create them.
Behind the Scenes with Our Head Distiller
During the experience, visitors had the opportunity to:
- Meet and chat with our Head Distiller
- Explore behind the scenes of the distillery
- Hear stories about our small-batch spirits and liqueurs
- Discover how different botanicals contribute flavour
- Learn more about our distilling techniques and processes
- Ask questions directly and gain insight into the craft behind the bottle
It was designed to be informal, informative and — most importantly — an opportunity to connect the drink in the glass with the people, ingredients and processes behind it.
Australian Botanicals & Local Flavours
One of the stories we particularly enjoy sharing is the role Australian native botanicals and fruits play across our range.
Ingredients such as Davidson plum, lemon myrtle and lilly pilly offer distinctive flavours and provide inspiration for spirits and liqueurs that reflect our Australian surroundings.
The Farm Gate Trail provided a fitting setting to explore that connection between place, produce and flavour.
After all, knowing where something comes from can completely change the way you experience it.
More Than a Tasting
The Tasting Room was also open throughout the event, giving Farm Gate Trail visitors the opportunity to stay a little longer, explore more of the range and enjoy the atmosphere of Tamborine Mountain Distillery.
For us, Spirits & Stories was about more than tasting.
It was about opening the doors to the production side of the distillery and sharing the knowledge, experimentation and craftsmanship that goes into creating such a diverse collection of spirits and liqueurs.
